"Yep, and I don't be carryin' one of them, neither." 🤭
Really though, there's nothing wrong with the angle itself, just that it's different from everything else on the market. That makes it difficult to shoot a 1911 on Tuesday, a Glock on Thursday, and a Hi-Power on Friday. Or shoot a Glock at all, for a lot of folks who learned on something else.
I’ve only owned one Glock, and I traded it for something shinier 20 years ago. That being said, there would be no Springfield XD, M&P, etc. without it.
I found I could make it work, but it took a fair amount of dry fire to make the switch, then a bunch more to switch back to anything else. Not efficient, unless you're all in.
Yeah, basically they're reliably mediocre. When people ask me the "what first gun?" question, I generally say "Get a G19, a case of ammo, and a good class. Once you've got some experience, you'll know what you want next."
I don't actually have any Glocks for some reason. Always something else shinier...
It was innovative in 1980, but the perfection parts are laughable. Terrible grip angle, mush and creep trigger, and exploded enough to become a meme. In 2025 its a reliable weapon in a sea of them, and the P10c or F series or M&P 2.0 all do the same thing while fixing at least one or more of the listed issues.
Glock is fine. Thats it. Fine, and its glory days long passed.
I'm on of those people you spoke of that just never got into Glocks. I fully admit the practicality, but could just never get over the mushy trigger. I recently attempted to convert myself. I decided to build my own "Glock“ ( of which zero Glock brand parts were used ) and do it in a way that would interest me. I built a 50 GI on an aftermarket G20 frame, with a red dot and a timney trigger. I'm going to attempt to get this year's deer with it. No matter what the build will become and article.
That sounds like me. I was eyeing the G43x/G48 with shield mags for a long time. (Turns out they're even pocket-able in overalls with Captain Kangaroo pockets 🤪) but decided a pair of j frames were more interesting.
You just about had me sold on Glock—until that groin-shot video. I’ll wait to read next week’s post.
Glocks do have a "weird" grip angle...but so do Lugers!

Just got a new to me 645. To replace the one I never should have sold. So I carry that on my hip, my backup Springfield 3.3 in sob.

Very true. It was the revolution, the rest are evolution
The grip angle is a non starter for me. Just doesn’t feel right, no matter how much I try to get used to it.

Got to have my space cowboy-styling. Go ahead, block me.
What's that you say? Space cowboys?

That would do nicely for that. Hard to beat the power to weight ratio of the G20/G21.

My trade in g21 became my woods walking gun. With the bears, panthers, hogs, and two-legged varmints where I hunted it was a nice weight on my hip.
As always, solid write up.
